Key Largo

Key Largo
Frank McCloud makes the long trip to Hotel Largo to visit the widow and father of a fellow veteran who was killed in action. But the visit turns deadly when it’s discovered that not only is a hurricane barreling down on Key Largo, but a group of gangsters, headed by the notorious Johnny Rocco have infiltrated the hotel. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for in “Key Largo”.

· At the beginning of the movie, after being pulled over by the police, the bus is shown to be full of people. The bus continues along the road and in the side view, when it starts moving again, and when it passes the Key Largo sign, there is no one on the bus besides the driver.

· Frank McCloud arrives at the hotel, walks into the bar and asks for a drink. Gaye Dawn is at the other end of the bar, listening to the horse race on the radio. She’s holding a pen in her right hand. It cuts to a close-up of Frank and Gaye when he says, “Thank you”, and the pencil is on the bar top.

· Nora has an altercation with Johnny Rocco. She scratches him on the left side of his face. But, during later scenes, the scratch is on the right side of his face.

· Johnny Rocco is getting a shave. When he says, “That’s enough of that”, he jumps up from the chair. There is noticeable shaving crème on his face, especially on his left cheek. He walks over to the mirror and most of the shaving crème is gone.

· After Frank tosses the gun into he chair and Johnny makes the “Now I know how you did it” comment, a close-up view of the chair shows the gun handle lays down, top to bottom. When Sawyer grabs it a few seconds later, the gun has flipped in the chair.

· Sawyer’s body is in the boat with Angel and Curly. As they start to push him overboard, Sawyer’s right arm moves up to the edge to help.

“Key Largo” (1948) stars Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Lauren Bacall, Lionel Barrymore, Claire Trevor, Thomas Gomez, Harry Lewis, John Rodney, and Marc Lawrence. It runs 100 minutes and is rated “Approved”.
